Challenge
Agriculture is one of the most important sectors of the Cambodian economy, however traditionally most Cambodians only focus on rice cultivation. Some households do have open land at home, but due to lack of knowledge and resources, it is challenging for them to utilize it.
Aim
VBCCC is committed to enhancing students' knowledge and proficiency in crop cultivation. They gain insight into the significance of cultivating chemical-free food and learn techniques to rejuvenate infertile soil, transforming it into a productive resource for agriculture.
Benefits of the program
· The "Home-grown Vegetable Program" educates students on establishing and maintaining personal food gardens, using the available space at the Community Centre. This promotes self-sufficiency, a sense of community and contributes to a greener environment.
· It involves transforming the free spaces at the Community Centre into practical, appealing gardens with chemical-free vegetables for consumption.
· The program aims to inspire students to grasp, appreciate, and apply the fundamentals of vegetable gardening, ensuring that learning remains relevant and engaging.
