VBC’s founder and director, Sinn Meang, is a passionate leader with a big heart for his people. He has dedicated his life to giving hope and opportunities to Cambodians in need. Like many Khmer people, Sinn understands hardship from his own experience.
He was born during the difficult years of the Khmer Rouge regime and grew up in a small fishing village. As the youngest of four children, life was not easy. His father passed away when Sinn was still very young, leaving the family to struggle with poverty. Despite these challenges, Sinn never gave up. Instead, these struggles gave him the strength and determination to create change.
Sinn believes that no one should have to face the same hardships he did as a child. This belief inspired him to establish Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC). Through his leadership, VBC has grown into a movement of compassion, building houses, toilets, wells, and community projects that give families dignity and hope.
What makes Sinn truly special is his ability to connect with people. His leadership does not come from position or power but from lived experience and a deep love for his community. He works side by side with volunteers and local families, showing that real change happens when people come together.
Sinn’s story is one of resilience, courage, and vision. From a poor boy in a rural village to a respected community leader, he is proof that one person’s determination can transform many lives.
Welcome to our school’s page. My name is Pech Sovann, and I am honored to serve as the Head Teacher atVolunteer Buildng Cambodia, under the umbrella of Volunteer Building Cambodia (VBC / VBCCC).
I hold a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) degree from Cambodan Mokeng University specializing in teaching and general Education in English with more than 15 years of English general education and curriculum leadership experience. Over my career, I have collaborated with diverse learners—urban, rural, children with learning differences—and have deepened my belief that every child deserves access to quality education, regardless of location or background.
My Educational Philosophy & Mindset
• Lifelong Learning as a Core Value
I believe that education should not stop at graduation. Teachers, students, and the community must continuously evolve. As Head Teacher, I aim to foster a culture of lifelong learning through reading clubs, professional development, peer-learning circles, and community workshops.
• Learner Centered, Inclusive Approach
Every child is unique. Classrooms should be flexible, responsive, and inclusive—using differentiated instruction, scaffolding, and universal design for learning (UDL). In remote communities, where resources are limited, creativity, partnership, and community involvement become even more significant.
• Bridging Gaps in Remote Education
I am committed to extending access to education into remote hamlets and underserved areas. My vision includes mobile learning kits, satellite learning hubs, home study support, and partner networks to reach children who might otherwise be excluded.
• Community as Co educator
Education is not just what happens in the classroom—it happens in the village, the home, the fields. I believe in building strong partnerships with parents, local leaders, NGOs, and volunteers, so that learning becomes a shared community mission.
"I believe true transformation in education begins with people. By investing in our teachers, empowering our learners, and engaging our community as equal partners, we build not just classrooms—but futures. With high commitment, shared responsibility, and a growth mindset, I am dedicated to leading with purpose, listening with empathy, and working side-by-side with my team to create inclusive, inspiring, and lasting change."
